Lego Therapy

What is Lego Therapy?

Lego® Therapy is a structured, evidence-based social development program that uses collaborative Lego play to support children with social communication challenges. Originally developed for children on the autism spectrum, this therapeutic approach is now widely used to help kids with:

  • Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
  • ADHD and attention difficulties
  • Social anxiety or emotional regulation needs
  • Developmental delays and learning differences

At Louden Group, our occupational therapists use Lego Therapy to support children in developing teamwork, communication, problem-solving and self-regulation skills — all in a fun, engaging, and child-centred way.

How Lego Therapy Works

Each Lego Therapy session follows a clear, structured approach, where children work together in small groups, taking on rotating roles such as:

  • Engineer – reads the instructions

  • Supplier – finds the pieces

  • Builder – assembles the bricks

With guidance from our trained therapists, children learn to:

  • Use clear and respectful communication
  • Listen and follow directions
  • Share, take turns, and negotiate
  • Manage frustration and stay focused
  • Celebrate group achievements

Therapy is tailored to each child’s individual goals and is suitable for children aged 5 and up. We offer Lego Therapy as a standalone program or as part of a comprehensive occupational therapy plan.
